I purchased these beautiful plants 3 weeks ago because they were on SALE. I knew I would not plant them until after Mother's Day and said to myself,
"I am GOING to keep these babies alive until then. I am DETERMINED to NURTURE them until they can go outside."
After visiting on-line sites directing me what to do, I eagerly followed the advice to WATER them daily as they need water and keep them inside until it is warm.
SEE WHAT TOO MUCH NURTURING CAN DO!
There is a parenting lesson in this!

Chick-Fil-A
Brandon got a job at his FAVORITE restaurant-Chick Fil A.
When we visited Georgia last summer, we ate chicken everyday from the "healthy" choice for fast-food restaurant. Many good friends and mentors work at the teenage friendly stop and he is enjoying the work and relationships and they are closed on SUNDAY!!!!.
We are happy he has something to fill his time as he was BORED at home.

Happy Easter 2009!
Celebrating with friends was a happy occasion this year. Mom and Dad were in Colorado with Tanya so we invited the Ward's and Bill's over for the BOYS! The boys were on their BEST behavior in front of the striking and charming Ward girls. Glad they are such charming and handsome boys--I'm bias of course!

KNEE INJURIES amongst TEENS
Brandon had to quit wrestling this year due to a knee injury. The orthopedic doctor concluded that wrestling is not a sport that Brandon's knees can handle, so he made the tough decision to stop! Even though I finally learned to enjoy wrestling tournaments, I am happy the season ended early.
Two of Brandon's closest friends, Chris Davis and Danny Machino, also have experienced much more serious knee injuries this year. Both of the athletes are soccer stars and play (played) on Chandler Hansen's winning team. In the last 1 1/2 years, both boys have had 2 surgeries, followed by 6 months of physical therapy and NO SPORTS! Sports has been the lifeblood for these boys since they were young and both are devastated at this turn of events.
During Spring Break, Danny vacationed in Mexico, and while playing sand volleyball, he tore his ACL for the SECOND time. Our hearts go out to Danny and his family as the decide what to do for their son. Most likely, a life of sports will be a struggle for him.
Here are some pics of the boys together at music concerts, middle school, etc.

Carson Spring Concert--VIOLA
Playing with the High School orchestra was a real treat for Carson. I also enjoy hearing the progress that is possible with patience, practice, and perseverance!

Tubing in Soldier Hollow--UTAH-Spring Break 09
Our recent trip to Colorado and Utah for Spring Break was filled with many activities including tubing. Not only did we reconnect with family and friends, we enjoyed a beautiful week of warm temperatures. I will post albums of many of our activities.

Hunter performs his Spring Band concert
Check out Hunter's saxophone playing in the OTMS Jazz band and 8th Grade Band at last night's performance.
PART 2
I wasn't able to attend as I was tying blankets to give to SAFEHOME with 75 other woman in my church. The group also gathered cake mixes, frosting, etc and created "gift Cake Packages." Journals were also collected and the woman wrote words of inspiration for the recipients. To top off the evening, a CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN was served complete with many dipping choices.

Modest is Hottest
March 7, 2009, over 50 10 and 11-year-old girls gathered from the Lenexa, Kansas Stake to listen to Patti Ward and her DREAM TEAM teach how to choose Modest Clothing. The girls then created modest fashions and modeled them in a Fashion Show complete with CATWALK!

Jessica turns 4 March 3, 2009
Never have Brad and I experienced a quieter birthday party. Guns, swords, weapons, blood, screaming, and size 13 shoes lined up in the hallway is typical for a yearly celebration of birth!

SNOW SNOW SNOW 2-28-09
This is only the SECOND snow fall in Kansas City this year!
I FORCED the kids to go out and sled because you can guarantee the snow will be gone by Monday! Boy did I take a hit for forcing them--it was cold--cold--cold and WINDY WINDY WINDY--sledding isn't as fun as I remember, but the pictures look cute!
(one advantage of yesterday--we have all our snow gear ready for our Spring Break trip to Utah)
