Working on basketball skills

Happy NEW YEAR!

Brad, Brandon, and Hunter went to the LDS Stake Dance and Carson, Jessie, and I went to Kelly Linebacks house and spent the evening with the Naylor family and Amy and Steve Stephenson. They are long-time KC natives. We had yummy food and great conversation. Jessie entertained herself with Kelly's girl's toys--she has 3 girls and the youngest is 14. Needless to say, they weren't playing with the toys. Jessie was in heaven. She was in good spirits as I made her take an afternoon nap. She is all stuffy today with a lingering cold. So far, no other family member has come down with the virus.

It has been my goal this week to work with Carson on his basketball skills. This is the first year he has played and he needs much practice on dribbling and basic skills We go everyday to the REC center and I am enjoying the one-on-one time with him. We also play a little ping-pong.

Yesterday, we played a 2-on-2 pick-up-game with another girl and her father and I got SOOOOOOO winded. I am out of shape, but so was the other parent and he hardly made any shots so I felt pretty  good. Jessie stays in the play area. We plan to get the entire family on the court. Brad takes the teenagers and plays a REAL game of basketball so Carson won't get hit with the ball.

We saw Australia today-I would not recommend 2nd row seats---even HUGH JACKMAN doesn't look good THAT big. Although, I stayed the entire 3 HOURS. I loved the movie and so did Mom and Dad and Brad. Hunter and Carson saw Tale of Desperaux.

I'll post holiday pics soon.

Only SNOW for the Holidays

The entire country has experienced crazy weather the last several weeks. This is the ONLY SNOW we have had. I bought Jessie this pink snowsuit in a blizzard and had her out in it as soon as I got home. KC snow melts a day later when the temperature rises. This snow was on Dec. 16

11-1-08 BYU vs. CSU--BYU WON!!!!!!!!!!!

For Halloween this year, we traveled to Colorado and spent the weekend with my sister Tanya and her family. Leaving at 4 PM KC time made for a long night, however, our FAVORITE traveler (the only one STRAPPED in a car seat) slumbered for much of the 10 hour drive and Brandon kept Brad awake throughout most of the night listening to a comedy routine on Brad's I-pod.

Amazingly, the connection between cousins is unbroken with age or interest. 8-year-old Nathan and 16-year-old Brandon and the 3-year-old girls jumped for hours on the trampoline, while 14-year-old Hunter and 6-year-old Scott and Carson built robots out of bionicles. Dads joined in the football game and prepared for the BIG EVENT.

Lauren and Jessie played "guess which Disney Princess I am" until the gowns were thread bare and the cheap plastic shoes were clunking wildly on the wood floor.

Trick o Treating on Friday was fast and furious for Carson and Jessie-although you would never know it looking at the STASH of candy they consumed.

Don't you LOVE modern TRAVEL technology

When I was a kid, traveling across country met hours of torture and noise for my parents. Jumping over seats and wrestling with your nearest sibling was just a game we played while bored.

Travel was DANGEROUS to drivers. Thus, new seatbelt laws were passed and we now have a NEW way to travel to keep the peace. Last week, I took a drive up the Colorado Mountains near Fort Collins with my Mom, Dad, sister, Tanya and Mark, and 2 3-year-olds.

PEACEFUL for these toddlers and adults! Not to mention the scenery.
