Jessie's FEVERS

Jessie woke up in the middle of the night with a 101 degree fever. Ibuprofen allowed her to sleep through the night. Today she is FEVER FREE. The mystery continues!

Carson's 5th grade poem about Fall

The Signs of Fall Carson Bishop 9-23-2009

I hold my breath. All around me, leaves are lightly looping through the light, lush air; birds singing in their strong, superb, symphony; bugs buzzing by, desperately trying to have the time of their life before they die. All around me, I am absorbed in the chirping of crickets and the buzz of cicadas, the sights of grass that let go of the dirt, slipped away from their friends. Flowers, which are deciding whether or not to go into a deep sleep (one they wouldn’t wake up) from, mesmerize me. I chuckle to myself as squirrels run quickly looking for acorns to store for the cold ahead. Yes, these are the signs of fall—the dying season.

sick Jessie

Jessie has a 102 fever and she just threw-up again. This fever only lasted 24 hours and then no other symptoms appeared.

Tomorrow, we have a scheduled appointment to re-check her blood through a vein--she HATES HATES HATES this.

Hunter got to play in his Freshman football game today and recovered a fumble and also got his first tackle. Way to go Hunter!

The Power of Hope

Jessie's FIRST Primary Talk

Jessie gave her first talk today in primary. Her proud brothers and grandpa enjoyed learning from her words. (DAD was working, but she recited her talk for him later)

Prophets Teach Me to Strengthen my Family 9-19-09

This is a picture of someone VERY special in our church.

He worked in the printing business;

His middle name starts with an S, which stands for Spencer;

He is the 16th President of the Church;

Who is HE?

President Thomas S. Monson

He teaches us to strengthen our families.

He tells us to love one another-- listen to our parents --pray together--- hold weekly family home evening.

The prophet wants us to love our siblings. I know my brothers love me. Brandon, my brother, loves to wrestle with me and fight. It is Fun. Hunter takes very good care of me when my Mom and Dad are gone. Carson loves to play barbies with me. My brothers are the best!

When I listen and obey my parents, there is peace in our home. I am proud when I do what my Mom and Dad say.

My family prays together even though we are hardly TOGETHER. Before each meal, we thank God for our food and bless it. Before school, Carson and I pray to have a good day. When I go to bed at night, I pray and give thanks.

Once a week, my family gathers together. This does not always fall on a Monday night—sometimes it is Sunday—sometimes it is a Friday night—My family’s schedule is crazy, but we try to have a weekly time to discuss spiritual messages from the scriptures.

If we do these 4 things, our family can be strengthened and we can have peace in our home.

PS Brandon said he looked like an "AMOBEA" What do you think?

Oh the YEARS go by FAST!

Brandon has been playing piano since the 3rd grade. He quit taking lessons as a Freshman in High School, however enjoys playing music that he wants. After school, Jessie was playing with Melia Deshler and they broke out into dance when Brandon began playing! OH THE YEARS of piano lessons and prodding make this
moment so FULFILLING!

NEW Lenexa Stake Center

After more than 10 years waiting, planning, and building, the NEW Stake Center was dedicated on Sunday. During that time, we have met in a nearby Convention Center for Stake Conference and used other Stake Buildings for large Stake events. It has been a pain, to say the least. We are thrilled to have a place to gather as a Lenexa Stake.
In fact, this Saturday, a large Preparedness Fair will be held--invitations have been extended to community members who live in the neighborhood as well as Civic leaders including the mayor, fire/police departments and the Red Cross. What a celebration.

Happy 15th Birthday Hunter

Hunter's birthday began with a 7-10 AM football practice, followed by mowing a neighbor's lawn. The funnest part of his day was watching the BYU Cougars win against Tulane 47-3. Some good plays, even by the back-up team members. Kate and James Naylor enjoyed celebrating with us.

Brad and Brandon were at work.

Hunter was surprised to open his NEW I-POD and has been learning all about it ever since. Eating barbecue for dinner and cake with family ended off a great day!

Happy Birthday, Hunter.

Celebrating Labor Day 2009

Even though the temperature in the water kept many pool patrons away on Labor Day, Jessie and Carson braved the water ONE LAST TIME for the season and had a blast!

Brad worked several night shifts and was catching up on sleep. Brandon served THOUSANDS of people FREE Chic Fil A sandwiches for a NATIONAL promotion for the Healthy alternative to Fast Food. We managed to have fun without them.
