A little bit of lovin'

Several missionary Moms and I got together and put together Valentine packages for missionaries we know that are serving. What a great way to give our sons a variety of "goodies" and feel connected to our son's friends.
"Me"•  Darci Evans • Chris Manning • Mary Ellen Naylor •  Heidi Fackrell •
(not pictured Diane Fackrell  •  Leanne Hansen  •  Sister Hinds)

Jessica made cards for each of the missionaries as well as her kindergarten classmates!
While concentrating, sticking our tongues out is a trait that Brandon, Grandpa Evans and I share!
......and now Jessica joins the elite....!

Valentine's Day 2009

I am NOT a cook or a crafty person. My idea of a meal is anything that can be done in less than 1/2 hour and be 65% healthy! Since consumption of the food by the boys only takes 2 minutes, I like to cut my losses. In the early years of preparing food, I attempted creative recipes only to learn that taste buds aren't linked to intelligence or parental pleading. Today, if 1 child enjoys the meal it is a recipe-filer KEEPER!

So for Valentine's Day, I attempted a simple new recipe--PORK ROAST--3 members of the family raved and the rest STARVED!

You get what you get and don't throw a Fit!

Of course, dessert was the best part!

BVN Sweetheart Feb. 14, 2009

On Valentine's day, I awoke and made heart-shaped pancakes for the family and a pork-roast meal for the evening. We never once sat down to eat these meals together as the teenagers had a basketball tournament all morning, Carson had a noon basketball game, Jessica was sick with a fever, and Brad was sleeping after working the night shift at Children's Mercy downtown. The dinner was on the table at 6:30 and only Hunter and I were home and AWAKE to eat. I ate in 2 minutes and rushed to follow Brandon over to his date's house to take pics.

The big boys ate the pancake breakfast on Sunday, and we finished the rest of the dinner meal for Sunday lunch!

THAT'S HOW WE ROLL!

Valentine's Day

On Valentine's Day, Jessie enjoyed running, swinging, and climbing with other toddlers at Bump City. Not worrying about her getting hurt or making a mess made my day fabulous.
For his 7th grade Communication Arts class, Hunter created this PSA video concerning children in Sierra Leon who were kidnapped and forced to be soldiers. Research for the topic was heartbreaking and really allowed these students to understand the need for humanatarian aid through the world. I am amazed what resources are available for these middle schoolers to learn and complete research. A FAR cry from 4x6 index cards and the card catalogue.
The following is a link for further understanding what projects are being funded by the UN
.

Brandon and his best friend, Chris Davis, dress up for their winter band concert. Chris attends seminary EVERY day with Brandon and goes to all the LDS youth functions, as well as attending his own church youth functions. What a great group of kids to hang out with for Brandon. Chris plays the french horn and in the video, he is pictured on the front row. The trumpet players are featured in the clip.

Valentine's Day at Carson's 3rd grade class. I created 4 games to keep the children busy for the hour-long party.

Working Together/Valentine's DAy

Jessica helps Hunter make bacon for dinner while wearing an apron Grandma Bishop made for her. Not only does Jessica make messes, occasionally she is a good little helper at cleaning up. Recently, she will not leave her hair clip in her hair so she often looks like a homeless child.
