KC area temple--groundbreaking ceremony

On May 8, 2010, the official ground-breaking ceremony was held for the KC area temple in Shoal Creek, Missouri. Visiting authorities, civic leaders, community supporters, and LDS invited members gathered on a cold and windy day to hear remarks by Elder Rasmusen and others. President and Sister Don Deshler, newly sustained seventy, conducted the meeting and will direct all the temple activities during the next 2 years.

Growing up, President and Sister Deshler were a big part of my family. I spent a lot of time babysitting their children---Reed, Jill, Todd and Chad. Ironically, Chad's oldest daughter, Melia, and Jessie are best friends and Monet, Chad's wife, is my dear friend as well.

We look forward in 2 years to attending the Open House and dedication of this grand and spiritual edifice.

How exciting! Especially in Kansas :-) What a beautiful temple...it reminds me of St. George, Manti, and Nauvoo. Love the picture of you and you dad!
