A Saturday full of sun and fun

The annual Children's Mercy picnic was held at the Kansas Agricultural Hall of Fame. Children's activities kept Hunter, Carson, Jessie and Brad busy all day. Many participants enjoyed carnival games and inflatables through-out the day, after they filled their stomach's with picnic food and ice cream. The kids also loved playing in these fountains in a nearby shopping complex.

A
ll afternoon, we observed all the people with LARGE stuffed animals, color-ful hats, and other prizes awarded them for the games. We were determined to go home with one of the BEST prizes as so many did. After the kids attempted a few games Brad and Hunter joined in the FIGHT. Several rounds ensued, but neither one could make the necessary "shots" to win the BIG prize. I even tried to play, but came up empty-handed.

Between the 6 of us, we must of played 100 rounds of games and NO ONE was awarded a big stuffed-animal! We hung our heads and exited the party feeling humiliated that so many people could earn the BIG prize, but not us!

Another REASON to enjoy the SEASON

Temperatures in the 70's at the end of August is so very RARE for our area, however, we are thrilled to enjoy outside activities in our JEANS.

Brandon and Hunter are diving right into school activity. Hunter is playing FRESHMAN Football (#90) and has to dress in his jersey and kaki's every Friday. Luckily, he can wear Brandon's Kaki's as I don't think I could muster another trip to OLD NAVY for pants for another boy! Unbelievably, the boys are the SAME size now! Hunter is also participating in marching band. This week, we attended their first performance of the season for BVN Mustang Stampede--a showcase of FAll sports and activities.

Both boys are attending Leanne Hansen's early-morning seminary so their day begins at 5:15 AM and ends at 6 PM for Hunter--followed by homework!

Brandon continues to work at Chick Fil A and often goes in after school. Here he is leading the BVN band in their 2009 Marching Show. Dr. Roberts is a fantastic director and mentor for him.

Happy Birthday Brad!

Brad turned 44 today! Carson, Jessie and I made Brad a yummy breakfast. We took the boys to see Star Trek -- the movie and enjoyed pizza, cake and ice cream with my parents, sister and boys. Brandon worked at Chic Fil A all day and missed the fun. In the evening, Brad chaperoned a church dance and took Hunter. It was a great day!

(he REALLY did get what he wanted for his Birthday!!!)

You are "OUT OF ORDER"

This blog is really all about recording the history of our family and having used the site for over 2 years, I have learned many new features. I do enjoy sharing our moments with family and friends, however, realize that it takes time to view ALL the albums. It is my "FANTASY" that my boys and Jessie will sit around their family room staring at their WALL where the SMILEBOX albums are displayed and share these moments with their families including their children--my GRANDCHILDREN!

Imagine my delight this summer when I discovered that you can CHANGE the post date by using "POST OPTIONS." I thought that I was doomed to having so many of the events of the Bishop lives "out of order" seeing that I have digital photos from 2003 that are sitting idle on my hard drive.

Now I know you are saying that the Bishop family IS "out of order" so why should it matter? It does and so I will be post dating pictures from 2003-2007. No one needs to look at them, but I will be put at ease knowing the HISTORY is "in ORDER."!!!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Sending the boys off to school was the goal for the morning---

CARSON BISHOP--Valley Park Elementary--5th--Mrs. Talley

HUNTER BISHOP--Blue Valley North High School--Freshman

BRANDON BISHOP--Blue Valley North High School-SENIOR

JESSICA BISHOP--BORED without her brothers

--- (and trying to distract myself from the ever so quiet house) was the goal for the rest of the day! Not to mention the anxiety I feel now that I have 2 children in HIGH SCHOOL--one a SENIOR! This "raising a family" thing goes by way to fast! Just yesterday, Brandon started pre-school.

So I distracted myself and completed this album to look back at what my oldest looked like starting school!

This particular album takes a while to LOAD so after you click on arrow--go put in a load of laundry or grab some Strawberry Peanut Butter M&M's from your secret stash--my NEW favorite. If you were here, I would share them with you!!

One Last Summer HURRAH

Sometimes I surprise myself and I actually become the FUN parent instead of the FUN SUCKER as I am sometimes referred to. I take my job seriously and am ok with that title, but sometimes you need to let your hair down and LIVE A LITTLE!

Hunter reminded me how he missed our SUMMER CRAZY DINNERS of years ago. (ie..using no utensils, eating pizza at midnight, etc) To celebrate the end of summer, we had 2 CRAZY dinners pictured in this album.

Jessie, Carson, and I went down the slides at least 50 times on one of the last full days before school--we had a blast!

Alaina & Mitch Dooley-August 13, 2009

This is a look at what good friend, Alaina Larson Dooley, presented at her wedding reception on Aug. 14 in Overland Park, Kansas.

I have known the mother, Lisa Larson Rothlisberger, since a teenager and knew Pat Larson while living in Campus Plaza at BYU in 1986. We have shared many memories in the last 15 years as families.

Time has a way of creeping up on us and soon you are attending a wedding reception of children you knew as babies.
