Grandma Hilda Olsen reads Little Black Sambo
My maternal grandmother, Hilda Nash Olsen, tells a 2-year-old Brandon the beloved story from my childhood, Little Black Sambo! As siblings, we gathered around grandmas knee as she enticed us with this story of adventure, danger and intrigue. Although it might be considered politically incorrect today, we had no clue of the implications of a "black Sambo!"

Two-year-old Brandon and his cousins celebrate Marissa's birthday

We lived in Milwaukee, WI from 1990-1994. We met some great couples whom were also attending medical school.

California & San Diego: 1990 before moving to WI
Before Brad and I moved to Milwaukee, WI for medical school, we took a road-trip to California to visit my sister Chris and Paul, Tim & Jan Shipley, and Patty & Marion Hammond.
We did San Diego in a day and visited Balboa Park, Tijuana Mexico, Cornado Island, the Beach, etc. The Shipley's cat, Nivik, peed on our blanket and we took the smell all the way to WI with us!
